Leaders in Training

(16 - 18 Years Old)

The Leaders in Training (LIT) Program provides an opportunity for young people to learn and practice valuable leadership skills.

The LIT Program is run in conjunction with Camp Goodtimes’ Kids Camp programs. Each LIT Program can accommodate 12 young leaders per session.   The program is open to individuals who are 16-18 years of age diagnosed with cancer, are siblings of those who are diagnosed with cancer or who are bereaved.

During the LIT Program, young leaders learn communication skills, trust-and respect-building skills, presentation skills and general leadership skills. LITs have the opportunity to practice their leadership skills by becoming role models to younger campers.

LITs are encouraged to challenge themselves, try new things, explore new ways of thinking and provide support to each other. Although still considered campers, our young leaders in the LIT Program are given a number of responsibilities that have the potential to strengthen their sense of empowerment and independence.

The LIT Program is available for teens diagnosed with cancer and their siblings. We are able to accommodate 12 LIT participants in each Kids Camp session.

Teens diagnosed with cancer that are not able to attend the LIT Program are still eligible to apply to the Teen Program.

Because spots within the LIT Program are limited, not all who apply will be invited to attend.

Please complete the online application and submit it to the Camp Goodtimes office no later than March 31, 2016.
