Staff at Camp Goodtimes

Camp Goodtimes wouldn’t run without the talented and versatile team that make up our core staff. Working out of the Canadian Cancer Society BC and Yukon Division office in Vancouver, the Camp Goodtimes team works tirelessly to take care of the administration, organization and promotion of the program all year long.

Our dedicated and hardworking staff develop program content, train volunteers and conduct community outreach to educate and inform people about all the great work Camps does. Check out the Join the Team page for job opportunities.

Danielle McVicar

Summer Camp Director/Manager

Danielle is excited to join the Camp Goodtimes team as Camp Manager after playing numerous roles in the camp world. Starting her path long ago as a camper in Ontario, she felt inspired to work various positions for ten seasons at her home camp. She then furthered her experience, running multiple camps for kids and families affected by type 1 diabetes across all of Western Canada. She is passionate about creating an empowering atmosphere that facilitates personal growth and improved self-esteem. She believes Camp Goodtimes should be a place where kids are not defined by their diagnoses and feel a strong sense of community. While not immersing herself with camp ins and outs, you will find her outside coaching skiing or climbing mountains on her skis or bike.

Jennifer Skillen

Clinical Coordinator

Jenn grew up in Ontario, and moved to BC in 2006. She has worked as a pediatric nurse for over 20 years, caring for children and families facing life-limiting illnesses in rehabilitation, chronic care, acute and palliative settings. During that time Jenn has also obtained a degree in Fine Arts, taught art to children and developed a love for Camp Nursing as the Camp Nursing Coordinator for specialized camps in Ontario and BC. Jenn is passionate about education and supporting families in maintaining their well-being while facing difficult situations. In her spare time, Jenn enjoys road trips, kayaking, downhill skiing and creative pursuits such as painting and making music.

Talk to Jenn about anything related to health and safety at camp.

Holly Campbell

Youth Leadership Coordinator

Holly is from Ontario where she has spent most of her summers being a camper or a camp counselor. For the past few years in the spring, fall, and winter seasons, Holly worked as an outdoor education program facilitator at an outdoor education centre near Algonquin Park, and in the summer led white water canoe trips around Ontario and Quebec. Working for the CNIB Lake Joe Centre in the summer of 2017 ignited Holly’s passion for using outdoor recreation to foster independence and individual growth. When Holly is not working she is probably out seeking fresh snow to ski, rapids to paddle, or new forest trails to explore.

Talk to Holly about any youth programs, including the Leaders In Training Program and Youth Council

Rebecca Williams

Program Coordinator – Volunteer Support

Hailing originally from the UK, Rebecca fell in love with camps when she first visited Canada in 2011, working at Woodeden, a camp for kids with physical disabilities. She was inspired by the way that camp can create an ‘anything is possible’ mentality, and an atmosphere of ‘yes’ for kids who may have heard a lot of ‘no’ because of their medical needs. Rebecca knows that camp is a feeling, not a place, and has spent the last three years working at an oncology camp program in SickKids Hospital in Toronto.  Rebecca is passionate about making Camp Goodtimes a warm, welcoming and empowering experience for all participants and volunteers, and creating a community of support at camp and beyond. In her free time you might find Rebecca hiking and bouldering in the mountains, or snuggled up at home working on a crochet project.
Talk to Rebecca if you have any questions about volunteering.

Jean Wong

After 17 years working with Camp Goodtimes, Jean is our administrative guru. With her amazing ability to multitask and problem solve, Jean impressively keeps families and staff on time and on task, while giving them the support that they need. Once a world traveller and avid volleyball and softball player, Jean now spends all her free time having adventures with daughter Melisa.
