Dave began volunteering with Camp Goodtimes in 1992, starting with the executive committee, and then attending camp sessions as a cabin leader and program activities supervisor. In 2000, Dave became an employee of the Canadian Cancer Society, working with Camp Goodtimes in a leadership capacity. Currently, as the Director of Canadian Cancer Society Camps, Dave oversees the direction of the various camp programs, leads a team of Camp Goodtimes staff members, and works closely with the stakeholders and Canadian Cancer Society departments that help bring this quality program to those with a history of childhood cancer, and their families.
UPDATE:
It is with mixed feelings that I am making this announcement about Dave MacKenzie’s decision to leave BCY. This difficult decision has been made around exciting changes in his personal life: in the summer of 2012, Dave will be starting a family.
I know you’ll agree with me when I say that Dave has had a long, stellar history with Camp, starting as a volunteer in 1992 and taking on progressive roles as a Society employee and leader of the program. Dave oversaw the growth of Camp Goodtimes, facilitated numerous key program-wide transitions, and implemented many developments during his tenure, including the full accreditation of the programs.
Dave will remain with Camp Goodtimes until March 2012 to ensure there is continuity and support for the launch of another successful camp in 2012.
